T+A MP 3100 HV Multi-Media Player review
T+A is a well established, highly respected German manufacturer founded in 1978. Whilst not omnipresent here in the UK, T+A is a significant player in Germany, with consumer audio products representing the State of the Art. The company has an enviable ethical/sustainable approach to production, with the Herford campus in Germany consisting entirely of “green” buildings. In manufacture, the company avoids substances that are potentially damaging to the environment, either during production or disposal. T+A do not have assembly lines as such, but employ a traditional hand-crafted system with specialists working in small groups, manually assembling and checking each sub assembly. The family run business also has very close links to technical universities in Germany, with research, training and career opportunities for gifted pupils.
Previously, T+A had produced valve amplifiers and concluded fro
Naim Solstice Special Edition Turntable
This Is Huge!!!
Every now and then we come across some truly mind-blowing news. Here in case is possibly the most important announcement from probably the most respected manufacturer in audiophile history.
Naim Audio have always been famous for their love of Vinyl playback. From their superb design ethos of the super dynamic phono stages, to the application of turntable power supplies, and my personal favourite, the seminal Naim ARO, a bench mark in the history of hi-fidelity. When I heard the news that there could be a new phono stage, power supply, and a new ARO MK2, I couldn’t believe it! Then I learnt the full impact. There’s now something to connect it all together…
Welcome to the Naim Solstice.

A moving-coil battlefront. Dynavector Karat 17DX vs. Hana ML.
Dynavector Karat DX17 vs Hana ML.
Oh my Lord, two little black boxes with little Hi-Fi gems within. I was at Hi-Fi Corner and these two tantalizing mites were sitting on the table before me. I recognized the boxes as containing similarly priced moving-coil cartridges, both I think it's fair to say, belonging on the first couple of rungs of the “high-end” ladder. I knew the two models as I had been contemplating buying another cartridge myself and had researched a few possibilities. I couldn't in all honesty justify this other than just fancying having another cartridge to hand, and in any event, can one ever have too many of them? Anyway, it's cheaper than collecting cars! Struan, MD of Hi-Fi Corner, saw my eyes drawn to the boxes and suggested I take them home and compare the two, maybe anticipating a sale. How could I say no?
Hi Fi Show 2019 - Report
Unfortunately I couldn't make this years hi fi show, so I was delighted when one of our good friends offered to do a write up on it for us. Thank you George!
"For the first time, the autumn “UK Hi-Fi Show” took up weekend residence at the Ascot Grandstand in leafy Berkshire. There were no tailored outfits to behold, Bolly to guzzle or foie gras canapes to feast upon. The only enclosures were ones which had speaker drive units in them and an abundance of aluminium audio equipment casings.
Instead of jockeys we had interesting reps and distributors to chat with, which was fine by me..."
The Reference Room - Playing at Hi-Fi Corner October 2019
This month in our Reference room, feeling a little indulgent, we set up a system, that on paper might not seem conventional, but it is really more than the sum of its parts.
In audiophile quarters we tend to group products into price bands. However this week we decided to make an ensemble base the sonic capabilities of each piece; ignoring the prices of each object. This is what happened.

Hi-Fi Corner Insider - By Hi-Fi Choice
We are delighted to share this article about our new HiFi Corner showroom which features in this month’s Hi-Fi Choice. In case you haven't heard, in addition to our award winning Falkirk store, we also operate from what is now the UK's biggest experiential showroom, boasting 8500sq ft of showroom space, a warehouse and no fewer than six listening rooms. These comprise of two hi-fi rooms, one reference quality hi-fi demo room, two cinemas, a headphone booth and TV and lifestyle area.
As Hi-Fi Choice kindly say: "The sound is superb; the acoustics are excellent - neutral without sounding like an anechoic chamber or broadcast studio - and the system is revealing yet beguilingly musical. Indeed, despite the relatively low-priced pre/power being used, it is one of the finest sounds I have heard at a UK dealer." - David Price Hi-Fi Choice 2019
