Hi-Fi Corner Tip No10 - Forget Dolby televisions

The best sound from a television is not from a television!

Buy a separate home cinema amplifier and ditch the speakers that come with an all-in system.

For home cinema, all you need is stereo output from your television or video, a home cinema amplifier (or home cinema receiver) and a set of home cinema speakers (two front, two rear and one centre).

This will get you up and running in no-time. You can add other components and a sub-woofer (low bass loudspeaker) later if required.

Not all home cinema amplifiers sound the same.
