The new Bowers & Wilkins 700 Series delivers exceptional performance from a wide-ranging, comprehensive collection of loudspeakers. Drawing inspiration from the reference 800 Series Diamond™, the range includes new, bespoke acoustic technologies which simply transform home audio.
We have been a fan of B&W speakers for over 20 years, and in that time we have seen the performance of their products go from strength to strength. Now after 5 decades of building loudspeakers, we are delighted to have the new 700 series in our Falkirk and Edinburgh stores. Sitting in between the great value 600 series and top end 800 series, the 700 series have replaced the outgoing CM range.
The new 700 Series shares many of the features of the drive units with B&W’s flagships speaker range (regarded by many as the best in the world). Yet, these speakers come in a simplified cabinet compared to the 800 series. With prices starting at just £799, these speakers simply have all other manufactures quaking in their boots.
Below you can see our unboxing process of the 700 Series.
The seal has been broken on our new set of 706's... We were greeted with a sleek instruction manual before pulling out the speakers.
One of the new speakers has been removed and come out to play. The protective cover has been removed, all that's left is to take off the grille cover.
The 703's are next; the middle model of their floorstanding trio. The top has been lifted!
Spikes are on, now it is time to unveil them. Tweeter peeping out over the grilles with every set of 700 Series.
And here is the final result! Representing the satin white finish are the 703 S2's and the 706 S2's.
The sweet, glossy 706's are no bigger than 14 inches tall, but certainly make a striking impression.
The towering 703's look stunning, and certainly sound stunning so far, after a quick test.
Here's what B&W had to say;
The Bowers & Wilkins 700 Series comprises eight models to suit any homeset-up, including two with Tweeter-on-Top technology which enhance your music with clean, crystalline treble. The range also includes three floor-standing models, three stand-mounted speakers, and two dedicated centre channels for surround sound use. All models are available in a choice of Gloss Black, Satin White and Rosenut finishes.
The series features ‘trickled down’ technology first seen in the high-end 800 Series Diamond, a range of class-leading speakers that are regarded by many as the best loudspeakers in the world, alongside bespoke technology seen here for the first time.
All-new technologies come first and foremost in the shape of the Carbon Dome™ tweeter. This delivers a sweeter, cleaner high-frequency performance even further up the audible bandwidth than the previous Aluminium Double Dome tweeters, and is the best-performing ‘non-Diamond’ tweeter that Bowers & Wilkins has ever produced.
The revolutionary Continuum™ midrange driver reveals details in your music conventional cone materials simply can’t uncover and it now features on every model in this new range.
The result of these technologies, alongside the countless hours of tuning by the very best engineers in the business, is a range of loudspeakers that has to be heard to be believed.
We look forward to testing these speakers at length with various amplifiers and turntables. If you would like to arrange a listen for yourself, please contact us at our Edinburgh or Falkirk store, details of which can be found here.
